2. The Callaway Award. Given by the Callaway Critters Critique group of Fulton Missouri for a short story set in the Midwest, no erotica. The top six entries will be critiqued and the critiques will be available at the banquet on Saturday night. Limit 3,000 words.

3. High Hill Press Award. Given by High Hill Press for the next New York Times Bestseller. Must send first chapter and five page synopsis, any genre.

Fiction
4. Northwest Arkansas Writers Workshop Award. Given for a short story on any subject, no erotica. Please submit a properly formatted manuscript such as you would send to an editor. The top six entries will be critiqued and the critiques will be available at the banquet on Saturday evening. Limit 1,500 words.
5. Mid-South Writers Group Award. Given by the Mid-South Writers Group of Cassville, Missouri. For a romantic short story, no erotica. Limit 1,500 words.
6. Oxbow Award. Given by Dusty Richards for a short story with a western theme or two chapters of a western novel.
7. Matthew Martin Heroes Award. For a creative work of humorous
or serious fiction. Limit 1,500 words.
8. Jim Richardson Memorial Award. Given by Delois McGrew in memory of her son for a 'short-short' story, any genre. Limit 1,000 words.
Non-Fiction
9. Hightower Award. Given in memory of Harold Hightower by Chrissy Willis and Clarice Hightower for a nostalgic short story about family life. Limit 2,000 words.
10. Lt. Fred Guidry- The Search for Excellence Award. Given in
honor of Lt. Fred Guidry for a memoir or essay. Limit 2,500 words.

11. Bob and Faye Williams Jones Poetry Contest. A free verse poem, any subject, 40 line limit.

12. Clouse Literary Arts and Theatre Award. Children’s short story. Limit 10 pages or less.
13. The Storyteller Magazine Award. Given by Regina Williams for a short story, any genre except erotica, pornography, or children’s stories. Limit 3000 words.
14. Mighty Mo Award. Given by Muddy Creek Writers for a short story, any genre with the theme ‘narrow escape’. Please use proper format. Word Count 750-2,000 words..
Non-Fiction
15. Healing Presence Award. Given in member of daughter, Michelle L. Brackett by the Clouse Family for an Inspirational essay, suitable for a Christian magazine. Be clear, specific and concise. Limit 1,500 words.
16. My Favorite Things Creative Non-Fiction Essay Award. Given by Linda Apple- Julie Andrews sings “Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens” These are few of her favorite things. Use the five senses, emotion, dialogue, and internalization to tell me about one of your favorite things and convince me to make it mine too! Limit 600 words.
Poetry
17. Arkansas Poet Laureate Award. Given in honor of Arkansas Poet Laureate Peggy Vining for a poem about nature, any style. Limit 24 lines.
18. Flamingos and Pop Flies Award. Given by Phillip and Glenda Roddey in memory of Leah Kristin Roddey for a children’s poem to delight all ages. Subject, length, and style - poet’s choice.
19. The Caudle Memorial Award. Given by Peggy Vining, in memory of her parents for a Shakespearean sonnet , strict form, subject nature.
20. James H. Henson Poetry Award. Given by Sherri Perry for a free verse poem, any subject. Limit 36 lines.
21. "Jest Fer Fun” Poetry Award. Sponsored by Fayrene Mayes. This is your chance to take your best shots at a newsworthy public figure, past or present, political, historical, theatrical, or otherwise. However, you must use the Clarihew form.

22. To be announced on Friday morning at the conference. All registered participants may enter. Winner to be announced at the awards banquet Saturday night and must be present to win.
Contest Rules
- Contest entrants must be registered for the conference and a check postmarked by August 27, 2010. An attempt will be made to notify you by email when your entries are received however it is also suggested that you enclose a self-addressed stamped postcard.
- Only clear copies of manuscripts and poems are acceptable. Entries will not be returned.
- Winners of First Place cash awards in 2009 may not enter the same contest in 2010 if the contest is the same, but may enter all others.
- No single manuscript or poem may be entered in more than one contest. All manuscripts and poems must be original and unpublished at the time of entry. In other words, you may enter all the contests one time but each submission must be different.
- You may enter as many of the contests as you wish, but you may only send in one manuscript for each contest you enter. If you enter a contest more than one time all entries for that contest will be disqualified or if you enter the same manuscript in multiple contests all your entries will be disqualified.
- All submissions, except poetry, must be double spaced. No identification may appear on the manuscript poem except the contest number, contest title and word count. Placing the word count on the manuscript is optional and no one will be disqualified for placing or not placing it on the page. A separate cover page must accompany each entry. Each cover page must include title, name, and number of contest, writer’s name, address, and telephone number. Judges may not enter the contest they judge but may enter all others.
- OCW board members and speakers may not enter any contests. Members of writers’ organizations may not enter a contest sponsored by their group but may enter all others. At the discretion of the OCW, Inc. Board of Directors, contestants found in violation of any of the above will be disqualified. In the case of clear rule infraction, contestants will be barred from entering this and all future OCW contests.
- All decisions are final and judges’ names are confidential. Correspondence with judges is prohibited. Any of this material may be photocopied or distributed to interested writers. Winners’ names will be posted at http://www.ozarkcreativewriters.org.
